Ann Hobby Selects for Summer

Ann Hobby has served as Reference Librarian for the Brackett Library since 1990 and has chosen Laura Bush's memoir, Spoken From the Heart, as the Summer 2010 Faculty Favorite.

When asked about her recommendation, Hobby replied, "In Spoken From the Heart, Laura Bush relates her life in a way that allows the reader to picture a story very similar to that of many other people who grew up in the 1950s and 1960s. Details that she presents allow one to visualize the physical settings and to feel her emotions. The glimpses into her personal history and into events that occurred during her husband's presidency whet the reader's curiosity to know more about specific experiences. They also prompt one to look at current news reports with more insight."

"A subtle, recurring thread throughout the book is a true love story, for her life-long friends, for her husband, and for those whose lives she was able to improve as First Lady of Texas and of the United States."

To find the book in Brackett Library, you may call the Information Desk at 501-279-4775 or follow this link for its location and content notes.
